Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Civil CAD Designer to join our Site Development Team in Austin. The ideal candidate will have deep technical experience in Civil 3D and a passion for producing high-quality, efficient site development plans. This is a hands-on design position involving technical drafting, CAD standards oversight, and collaboration with engineers and project managers throughout the lifecycle of land development projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D , including grading, utilities, drainage, and roadway plans
• Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
• Set up and manage sheet sets, drawing databases, and Civil 3D data shortcuts
• Draft engineering plans based on verbal instructions, redlines, and conceptual sketches
• Maintain and enforce CAD standards across all projects
• Support construction documentation, including preparing field-ready drawing sets
• Archive technical documentation per Mahoney Engineering protocols
• Communicate and coordinate with engineers, project managers, and team members
• Contribute to mentoring junior CAD staff as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in civil drafting/design for land development
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D , including pipe networks, surfaces, profiles, data shortcuts, and corridor modeling
• Solid understanding of construction design methods
• Familiarity with XREFs and document management systems
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Post-secondary education in Drafting Technology or Civil Engineering Technology preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Range: $35.00 – $51.00/hour
• Annual Equivalent: $72,800 – $106,000 (based on a 40-hour work week)
