Job Title: Mandarin-English Interpreter (Onsite)

Location: Hemlock Solar Plant, 1881 North Orr Rd, Hemlock, MI 48626

Work Schedule: Flexible (Full-time, Part-time, or 12-hour rotating shifts)

Interview Process: Microsoft Teams interview conducted in Mandarin

Security Requirement: U.S. Citizen or National (DOD/ITAR compliant)

Position Summary:

We are seeking five skilled Mandarin-English Interpreters to join our team onsite at the Hemlock Solar Plant. In this role, you will serve as a vital communication bridge between Mandarin and English-speaking team members in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This includes real-time interpretation on the production floor, during training sessions, safety briefings, and technical discussions. This position demands strong linguistic ability, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time, in-person interpretation between Mandarin and English speakers on the manufacturing floor.
  • Facilitate understanding during training programs, safety meetings, collaborative sessions, and technical discussions.
  • Ensure accurate and context-appropriate translation that captures tone, nuance, and intent.
  • Adapt communication styles to suit various teams and cultural expectations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle all information with discretion.
  • Support effective cross-cultural communication to promote team cohesion and productivity.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Chinese Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional certification in interpreting is a plus.
  • Prior professional interpretation experience is required; experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Native or near-native fluency in both Mandarin and English.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and listening skills in both languages.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple assignments.
  • Proficiency with interpretation tools and technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility to accommodate different shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • High cultural awareness and sensitivity to ensure respectful and effective communication.
