ChenMed is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to serve as a Licensed Physician Reviewer focused on Clinical Appropriateness Reviews . This is a part-time (1099), fully remote opportunity ideal for a physician with experience in hospital medicine and a strong interest in delegated utilization management.
This role plays a key part in our delegated clinical review process. The physician will support our growing Clinical Operations team by reviewing assigned cases, offering consultative guidance to peers, and collaborating across internal and external teams to ensure appropriateness of care decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Clinical Appropriateness Reviews across multiple assigned markets (23 cases/day per market, up to 6 markets).
Attend and contribute to daily health plan and internal clinical team calls.
Participate in weekly Primary Care Provider (PCP) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) coordination meetings.
Advise and support other physician reviewers as needed.
Contribute to process and quality improvement within our delegated utilization management programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Active, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Board Certification in Gastroenterology (required).
Completion of fellowship in Gastroenterology.
Minimum 2 years experience in hospital medicine preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in utilization review preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Written and verbal fluency in English.
