Head Mechanic & Heavy Duty Mechanic – Airport Ground Support Equipment 

Location: Calgary Airport
Pay Range:

• Head Mechanic: $49 – $52 per hour
• Mechanic: $40 – $45 per hour
  Schedule: Monday to Sunday – Day and Evening Shifts (40 hours/week)

Rockstar Mechanics is recruiting for both a Head Mechanic and a Heavy Duty Mechanic to work on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) at Calgary International Airport. This role focuses on the maintenance and repair of specialized de-icing equipment and other airport service vehicles. Responsibilities – Head Mechanic

• Lead, schedule, and coordinate work assignments for the mechanic team.
• Train, mentor, and inspect work for quality, safety, and compliance with standards.
• Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs for the fleet of de-icing trucks and service vehicles.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair gas and diesel-powered trucks, automobiles, and heavy equipment.
• Approve repair cost estimates, parts purchases, and manage inventory.
• Ensure accurate maintenance records and documentation for inspections, repairs, and budgets.
• Participate in annual budget planning and provide cost estimates for repairs and equipment.

Responsibilities – Heavy Duty Mechanic

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel and gas-powered trucks, de-icing units, and other GSE.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of specialized airport equipment.
• Overhaul and repair components such as engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and adhere to all safety standards.

Qualifications

• Head Mechanic: Minimum 5 years’ experience with heavy-duty diesel trucks, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Mechanic: Minimum 3 years’ experience repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks or heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain:
• • Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) (assistance provided if needed).
• Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends in all weather conditions.
