Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Sciences Instructor to support the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School in the development and delivery of a Test and Evaluation training course for U.S. Air Force and Space Force personnel, including aircrew, operators, and engineers. This intensive, yearlong in-residence course is held twice annually at dedicated facilities on Edwards AFB.

Classes are supported by primarily on-site instructors, with some part-time subject matter experts and virtual learning components. The Flight Sciences Instructor will work on-site, directly supporting the Flight Sciences Division and coordinating with other TPS divisions to deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction aligned with course learning objectives.

Ideal candidates will bring operational and/or DoD Test and Evaluation (T&E) experience, with expertise in flight test disciplines such as aerodynamics, performance, stability and control, propulsion, and aircraft systems integration. Familiarity with test techniques used to evaluate aircraft performance and handling qualities is essential.

Essential Functions:

• Deliver subject matter expertise in disciplines such as aerodynamics, propulsion, performance, and stability & control to support classroom instruction and hands-on exercises
• Work closely with curriculum development teams to update and refine Flight Sciences coursework, aligning with current T&E practices
• Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding, track progress, and provide feedback
• Deliver hands-on training in lab, control room, and/or flight environments
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in flight test and evaluation
• Demonstrated experience in the development and application of flight test techniques and procedures
• Comprehensive knowledge of DoD Test and Evaluation processes supporting major acquisition programs
• Proven subject matter expertise in Flight Sciences
• Willingness to work full time and on site at Edwards AFB
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

• PhD in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field
• Active Top Secret security clearance
• Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School (USAF, USN, Empire, or EPNER)
• Experience delivering instruction to adult learners in academic or training environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
