We are currently seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to join our team of over 900 fire protection and security professionals in the industry. This opportunity is based in our Austin, Texas location. CAD Designer Summary The Fire Alarm Systems Designer specializes in designing and creating CAD layouts for fire alarm systems across various facilities within our Texas jurisdictions. Each product is tailored to meet specific customer needs. Responsibilities Communicate technical concepts effectively to sales representatives, operations teams, and customers. Design and layout of Fire Alarm systems in AutoCAD according to code requirements. Design and layout of Access Control systems in AutoCAD per code requirements. Prepare equipment submittals. Review design plans prior to submission to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager. Requirements To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. The following are the preferred qualifications: Prefer 2 years' experience with Fire Alarm system layout per IBC, NFPA 72 & 101. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2019 or newer. Prefer 2 years' experience with Access Control and Fire Alarm systems. EST alarm system experience is a plus but not required. Texas Fire Alarm Planning Superintendent (APS) License or ability to obtain it. NICET Level III or IV certification in Fire Alarm Systems or ability to obtain. Knowledge of in-building emergency communication systems (e.g., ERCES/BDA/DAS). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Competencies Knowledge of applicable codes. Willingness to engage with local AHJs regarding code requirements. Self-motivated with minimal oversight. Strong analytical skills. Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines. Responsibility for the design process. Ability to analyze, identify, and resolve discrepancies.
