We're seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Engineer to lead and maintain environmental compliance in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a high-impact role where you'll shape policy, ensure regulatory alignment, and partner with cross-functional teams to support a 24/7 operation. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and update internal environmental policies and procedures
Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations
Serve as the primary liaison for all regulatory agencies (federal, state, local)
Monitor and assess changes in environmental law and adapt policies accordingly
Identify, investigate, and resolve environmental risks or issues
Design and manage pollution monitoring systems related to air, land, and water
Conduct environmental impact studies and report findings to leadership
Ensure adherence to environmental legislation across all departments and functions
Lead advanced technical projects and advise on best practices
Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment , ideally within the wood products industry
Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental compliance
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required
CEP certifications preferred
Skilled in project-based goal setting and cross-functional communication
Able to work independently and interface across all levels of the organization (executive to hourly)
Demonstrates agility, initiative, and follow-through in a fast-paced plant environment
Willing and available to support a 24/7/365 operation
Committed to continuous improvement and open collaboration
Able to assess risk, analyze scenarios, and implement forward-thinking environmental solutions
Role based in Barnwell, SC within a manufacturing setting
Occasional travel up to 5%; must be open to short-notice travel
Full-time position; standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM , but extended and weekend hours may be required based on plant needs
Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, walking, and using hands/fingers
